Global superstar Beyoncé is coming to the North East this summer.
The singer will begin the European leg of her Formation World Tour at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland on Tuesday June 28, in what will be her first ever stadium show in the north east. It is sure to be one of the most hotly anticipated shows the venue has ever hosted.
Speaking about the concert, Sunderland AFC’s commercial director, Gary Hutchinson, said: “This concert represents a huge win not only for the Stadium of Light but the North East region too. Given Beyoncé’s iconic status in today’s music scene, this is without doubt the biggest concert announcement we have ever made”.
Beyoncé has sold over 118 million records worldwide as a solo artist, as well as a further 60 million with Destiny’s Child. She is considered the biggest female singer in the world. Her hits include Crazy In Love, Single Ladies, If I Were A Boy and Drunk In Love. Last week she released a surprise single, Formation, ahead of her appearance at the Super Bowl with Coldplay.
