Cyndi Lauper, the songstress behind mega hits like True Colours, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun and Time After Time, has announced she will be returning to the North East for the first time in 21 years.
New Yorker Lauper will be performing at Newcastle’s City Hall on June 25, to promote the release of her forthcoming album, Detour. She last performed at the venue in 1995 on her Twelve Deadly Cyns greatest hits tour. Since then she has become one of the biggest acts in the world, with global records sales of over 50 million, two Grammys, an Emmy and a Tony award. The latter was awarded to her for writing the smash hit Broadway and West End musical, Kinky Boots. Matt Henry, who starred in the London production of Kinky Boots, will be the support act for the tour.
Her latest record, Detour, will see the singer put her spin on country standards from the 40s, 50s and 60s, accompanied by some of Nashville’s finest musicians.
Tickets will be on sale from 10am on Friday March 11 from here, the venue’s box office or on 0844 338 0000
