Adele has announced she will headline Glastonbury this year.
The singer announced the news on stage at the London O2 Arena, where she is in the middle of a six-night residency as part of her world tour. She will headline the Saturday night of the festival.
“Who’s going to Glastonbury this year?” she asked. “See you there. I’ll be there. I’ll be headlining on the Saturday night this year.”
“I’ve had to keep that secret for years!” the star added.
Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis said it was a “great honour” to have Adele as part of the line up. She joins Coldplay and Muse on the bill. Jeff Lynne’s ELO, Jess Glynne and PJ Harvey have also been announced to perform at this year’s festival, which takes place June 22-26.
Her latest album 25 was was the biggest-selling album of last year and cemented Adele’s status as, basically, queen of everything.
